There’s no shortage of crazy talented, brilliant musicians in the world. Some of the most iconic musicians have also introduced us to their iconic instruments, in particular, guitars, that have become part of their brand. Whether we look at Carlos Santana or Slash, these talented guitarists have so much to offer us, which is why today we’d like to pay homage to some of them.
Here are some of the most famous guitars the world has ever seen and had the honor of hearing:
Kurt Cobain’s Fender Jag-Stang
Gone too soon, Kurt Cobain left behind one of the most incredible legacies in the world of rock. Singer and guitarist for his band, the uber-talented Nirvana, Cobain had a beautiful Fender Jag-Stang that was designed by the legend himself. It was a crossover between two of Fender’s most popular models, the Jaguar and the Mustang, and came in a bright blue. Fender recently decided to revive the guitar in honor of Nirvana’s album, Nevermind, which has been around for 30 years now.
Another one of Cobain’s most famous guitars, his ‘Unplugged’ acoustic, was recently auctioned for a whopping $6million!
Eddie Van Halen’s Frankenstrat
Another iconic guitar is the custom-made Frankenstrat that comes in a stunning red, white, and black, and played even louder and bolder than it looks. The guitar saw a lot of upgrades and changes over the years as Van Halen continued to tweak it and turn it into the monster it was. It remains one of the most powerful guitars the world has ever been seen and was put on display at the Smithsonian for years before hitting the auction block in recent months.
Prince’s Cloud
The legend, the icon, Prince had a guitar that was as unique and captivating as his own on-stage persona. Cloud as it was called, was a white cloud-shaped beauty that debuted in 1984’s Purple Rain. The guitar was totally unique in its curvaceous build and designed by a Minneapolis luthier for the singer. For years Cloud was featured on stage and went on to become an icon on its own.
Bruce Springsteen’s Fender Esquire
Everyone loves Springsteen, and he loves his Fender Esquire which he played for 40 years, and referred to as the best deal of his life. He’s owned it since the 1970s and continues to cherish this instrument even today, showing his deep love for this beat-up beauty.
